LawPRO Public Awareness Campaign 2016, Standardized Real Estate Documents

Posted on: Mar 13, 2017

Please READ HERE a correspondence from LawPRO outlining their 2016 public awareness campaign to advance the role and reputation of lawyers.  As you know LawPRO is a tremendous supporter of the private bar in Ontario.

The letter includes instructions for how to share the resources developed by LawPRO (6 articles, one video and one radio clip).

Please note that a similar letter has been circulated to your local real estate representative with a request that they forward this on to all of the real estate practitioners in your area.

FOLA is finalizing a push to see the adoption of province wide standardized real estate documents to be used as a starting point in every purchase and sale transaction involving used residential property across Ontario.  We hope that this will be a significant time saver for the real estate bar.  You should expect to receive from FOLA a package including the documents approved by the Lawyers Working Group near the end of this month.

FOLA have requested that the real estate representatives review the documents and perhaps convene a meeting of the real estate bar in your Association to consider the merits of standardized documents, and if possible to advise each President of any position in advance of the next FOLA Plenary scheduled for May 10-12.

Message from the President

The Hamilton Law Association since its inception in 1879 has been a strong and important part of the legal fabric of the Province of Ontario. I am humbled and honoured to serve as the 75th President of the Hamilton Law Association. As a transplanted east coast boy, I am delighted to now call Hamilton, "home" and have my career squarely planted within Hamilton.

Hamilton has a beautiful downtown core, fantastic surroundings including the rail trail and many waterfalls, and most importantly, on a day-to-day basis for me, one of the most collegial and helpful bars anywhere on the planet.......READ MORE

Robert Hooper, President 2017-2018

The Hamilton Law Association

The Association’s affairs are governed by trustees and officers who ensure that Association undertakings are within the mandate and in the best interests of our legal community. The many valued volunteers who are members of the numerous committees within the structure of the HLA strive to represent our membership consistently and effectively. The Anthony Pepe Memorial Law Library, operated within the scope of the HLA, is one of the largest law libraries in Ontario and houses over 30,000 volumes.

The Hamilton Law Association continues to strive to educate and support its membership in the practice of law as well as to advocate for their interests as lawyers...
