Ross & McBride LLP is Hamilton’s largest law firm with a rich history of commitment to our clients and our community. Our Personal Injury Law Practice Group is currently looking for a full-time Personal Injury Law Clerk.
We have a full-time, permanent position available for a law clerk. This person would be responsible for drafting correspondence, managing productions and undertakings, preparing Affidavits of Documents, scheduling Examinations for Discovery, preparing Trial Records, interacting with clients and answering telephone inquiries and reviewing Accident Benefit files. Ability to prepare comprehensive medical summaries preferred. Position requires organizations skills and fluency with the English language (spoken and written). This is a position with autonomy and requires the prospective candidate to have familiarity with all aspects of personal injury work from file intake to resolution.
Practice Group Operation (PGO)
Working within the PGO, this role will help manage the daily workload of a very busy Senior Partner within our Personal Injury Practice Group.

Duties and Responsibilities
Draft pleadings, motion records, trial records and pre-trial conference memorandums; Draft affidavits of documents, summarize discovery transcripts, monitor plaintiff and defendant undertakings;
Assist with trial preparation including summons to witnesses and coordination of experts;
Understand all major concepts relating to tort proceedings; Identify and confirm limitation periods;
Contribute to discussions with lawyer concerning file strategy, theory and appropriate litigation plan;
Identify issues that require attention of the lawyer;
Identify files ready for settlement discussions or appropriate for resolution; Prepare claim forms for accident benefits and submit them to the insurer, including meeting with client to obtain any information or documentation required;
Monitor insurer responses to claim forms and take follow up action as necessary; Understand all major concepts relating to AB claims including LAT processes; Prepare applications to the LAT including written submissions;
Review files and summarize documents including medical report s, employment records etc.;
Identify and document limitation periods; Other duties as assigned;

Qualifications or Skills Required:
The ideal candidate for this position will have 2 plus years of experience working in a legal environment and will be a person who pays great attention to detail, possesses excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, has the ability to multi-task and work independently, in a fast-paced environment
