Changes to the Charges Heard Separately Certificate Issuing Process

Legal Aid Ontario is making a series of “housekeeping” changes that may be of interest to members in your area who take legal aid certificates, particularly for criminal matters.  Please consider passing this information along to them.

The latest change is to how LAO will be granting separate certificates on different charges.  Details can be found in the attached or at this link to the FOLA web-site.

Message from the President

This is my fourth infomercial to the members of the HLA. I have just returned from the HLA sponsored tour to Peru that focused on Machu Picchu and the Amazon. It was a great vacation with some interesting and informative CPD, as well as good friendship and camaraderie. Stay tuned as to whether the Trustees decide to continue with HLA trips in 2020 and, if so, where. My personal thought is to plan for a shorter time away that is a bit cheaper, which would cater more to the younger lawyers. We will see. CONTINUE READING

The Anthony Pepe Memorial Law Library, operated within the scope of the HLA, is one of the largest law libraries in Ontario and houses over 30,000 volumes.
