    We are currently seeking a mid-level associate to join the Business Law Group at our Hamilton office to be a key member of its growing legal practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse and intellectually challenging files that involve all aspects of business law.

    KPMG Law LLP has recently expanded into Hamilton, Ontario and is currently building a team of high-achieving professionals. Our Hamilton law team consists of lawyers who are leaders in the region and work closely and collaboratively with each other to achieve top results for our clients.

    KPMG Law LLP is a national law firm with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Hamilton, Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal. KPMG Law LLP is affiliated with the professional services firm of KPMG LLP. Since our approach is to be an integrated multidisciplinary firm, our team of lawyers work closely with accountants and other KPMG professionals on client engagements.

    What You Will Do:

    As a member of KPMG Law LLP, you will:

    • Work closely with other members of our team to provide clients with legal advice respecting their day-to-day business operations.
    • Draft legal documents that meet our clients’ business needs, such as shareholders’ agreements, share and asset purchase agreements and commercial contracts.
    • Assist with due diligence as it relates to our clients’  transactional work and complex corporate reorganizations; and
    • Research and draft memorandum and legal opinions on various business law issues.

    What You Bring to the Role:

    • 4-6 years of business law experience gained with a leading law firm.
    • J.D. or L.L. B. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Ontario.
    • A collaborative, team-oriented approach to work.
    • Superior academic credentials.
    • Client service orientation with the ability to create effective working relationships across business lines, and with external stakeholders, on legal and business matters.
    • A thoughtful, strategic team member, who will act with the highest of ethical standards and integrity, while contributing positively to the culture and ongoing development of the team.
    • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multi-task, organize and meet aggressive deadlines; and
    • Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills.
